John was born perhaps about 1660, possibly Devon, England. His will, dated 4 Mar 1735, Boston, MBC, mentions his deceased parents David and Mary Jenkin of Hartland, Devon, England. Also mentioned, but not named, are his sisters as children of his parents [implied they are also in County of Devon, England?]. He passed away before 18 Nov. 1736 when his estate was probated. [1]
There were a number of Jenkins families in Boston, MBC in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Their probable Children born in Boston were:
John: 4 June 1690 [2]
David: 20 Feb. 1693 [3]
Mary: 5 Jul. 1701 [4]
The Second Church of Boston: Wife Mary was received into the Covenant and sons John and David were baptised 20 Mar 1698. Daughter wife Mary was baptised 6 Jul. 1701. [5]
Will: John appears to have had no living heirs in Boston at the time of his will (Case #6907) other than his "loving grandson David Jenkin a minor (son of David Jenkin deceased)." David was about age 15 at the time but was also appointed executor of this last will and testament to be assumed when he met qualifying age. Capt. Joshua Cheever (son--in-law) and Moses Tyler, of Boston, were empowered to act in his stead for time required. Witnessed by John Earle, Thomas Mower (Moor), Thomas Townsend, and Robert Breck(?).
