Mary Jane Janes was born about July, 1837 in Broad Cove, Bay de Verde, Newfoundland, daughter of John Janes (~1795– ).

Jane (18) married Edward Norman Squires (35) (born on March 4, 1821 in Broad Cove, Newfoundland Colony; son of William Squires and Susannah J. (Reynolds) Squires) on June 16, 1856 in Blackhead, Small Point-Broad Cove-Blackhead-Adams Cove, Newfoundland.
