William was born on 8 August 1822 and was christened on 2 October 1882 at Waterloo St-Wesleyan, Hammersmith, London, England. [1] William Hooper married Elizabeth Newell on 16 June 1842 at Thames Ditton, Surrey, England. [2]
William Smith Hooper appears in the "England and Wales Census, 1851" and is listed at Saint James Clerkenwell, Middlesex, England where he was head of household, married, age 28, and a bricklayer. [3]
In 1860 William, his wife Elizabeth and 5 children appear in the U.S. Census for Frankville, Winnesheik, Iowa. [4] William Smith Hooper, born in England, was naturalized as a citizen of the United States on 6 November, 1860 in West Union, Iowa. [5] At Frankville, Winneshiek, Iowa in 1880 the family consisted of WIlliam, Age 57, Elizabeth, 57, Matilda, 27 (born in England), George, 20, born in Iowa, and Charles, 16, born in Iowa. [6]
William Smith Hooper died on 7 June 1898 in White Lake, Aurora, South Dakota, United States and was buried there in White Lake Cemetery. [7]
