My name is Henry and I live in England, United Kingdom. I have been very interested in genealogy ever since I got an ancestry test at the start of 2022. I enjoy researching my family and think it is important to remember those who lived before you.
I am lucky to have already had a very researched paternal line, dating back to the 1100s. My family all mainly come from England (most commonly Warwickshire and Staffordshire), with a couple from Wales and Ireland. I am trying to connect to the global tree as much as I can! Please feel free to send me a message about anything :)

Hello Henry, thanks for your message. Yes, Sidaway is not a common name in most of the world although it is not so uncommon in the West Midlands. There are one or two extraordinary things you might like to know. A sister of mine (who died in 2007) was married twice and her first husband's surname was Hoare. The other thing is that it is possible that there is a link between the Sidaways and William Shakespeare, the Bard of Avon (according to Family Search, the family tree site of the Latter Day Saints). The first name Cornelius seems to have come from the Priest side of the family, a Cornelius Priest. It is through the Priest family that there is a link to a Shakespeare family. There is some evidence to support the idea that an ancestor, Thomas Shakespeare of Snitterfield, was a son of The Bard's grandfather Richard Shakespeare, making William the Bard a first cousin of mine - twelve times removed, meaning twelve generations back. Anyway it's worth looking into, I'm sure you'll agree. [The reason I keep calling William "The Bard" is because there were other William Shakespeares, one of whom was a direct ancestor of mine. ] The Bard had children and grandchildren but there were no further generations so no-one is directly descended from him. It seems you and I share ancestors. I'd love to know more.

Congratulations on certifying to work on pre-1700 profiles! It’s very important to read and understand the Help:Pre-1700 Profiles page. These profiles for deep ancestors are shared by many, and collaborating on them works best if we all follow the guidelines in the certification quiz.
Primary sources should always be added to pre-1700 profiles at the time they are created. If you don't have a source for a pre-1700 profile, it would be best to ask for help in the G2G forum before creating the profile.
The blog you quoted on your application is largely unsourced itself and while it may be accurate, is not considered a reliable source for pre-1700 profiles. Please can you find the original sources, or other primary sources? Here's a reminder of what are considered reliable sources https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Space:England_Project_Reliable_Sources
