Biography

Irma, the biological daughter of Pearl Hixson [Hixson-496] and Nellie Lurena Tracy, [Tracy-2357] was born in 1913 in Rosedale, Tx. After the death of her mother during the 1919 flu epidemic, she was raised by Leonard and Tirza Mealey of Richland, IA, and known as Irma Mealey until her marriage in 1933. She and Carman lived in Richland, Denmark, Nevada, Webster City, Riceville, Waterloo, and Clarinda, Iowa before moving to California in 1954. She and Carman raised three daughters. She worked at numerous jobs to help the family budget; her favorite was selling real estate in Lynwood, California. After she and Carman retired, they moved back to Nodaway, Iowa. She passed away in 1996.
