Biography

Judith Mae Griffith was the daughter of Donald "Ike" Griffith and Ella Mae Cummings. She was born in Montezuma, Iowa and grew up in Malcom, Iowa. She attended school in Grinnell, Iowa.

While Judy attended vocational school in Minnesota, she met Thomas Sonczalla. After they married, they moved to Phoenix, Arizona and she began working as a laboratory tech for a local doctor. They had three children. Several years later they relocated to Prescott, Arizona where she continued to work as a lab tech for Yavapai Regional Hospital and then local doctor. She also worked in the personnel department for the VAMC. Judith and Thomas divorced about 1990.

Judy relocated to Golden, Colorado and worked in the personnel department for the Dept of Defense. In 1998 she remarried to Jim Gill. Two weeks after their ceremony in Mazatlan, Mexico, they were both killed in an automobile accident.

Judy was a loving and devoted mother, both she and Tom working hard to provide a good life to their children. She was excited to become a new grandmother to her oldest daughter's first child. She is missed dearly by her children, extended family and friends.
