George is the child of George Farris and Catherine Neal. [1]
Just an old soldier, who is well-read and blessed with a good education. My interest in family history was fed by the women of my family, God bless them.
My mother always assumed I'd write the family history, whatever that meant. To the best of my knowledge she knew only her grandparents. Family lore had circulated about our ancestors rafting down the Ohio River. This was somewhat supported by a sheaf of fading, flaky photostats discussing the Mefford family of Mason County, KY, which I inherited upon my mother's death.
However, when analyzing the names I couldn't bridge the gaps between missing generations. In 1991, after I acquired my first computer, I discovered tools and a matrix by which I could organize my data and develop ways to expand upon it. Ironically, after 30 years of research and analysis — to include pouring through the Hessian State Archives in Germany — I have concluded it is unlikely these two Mefford lines are related as one seems to be from England and "our" Mefford [Meffert, Meffart] lineage seems to have originated in the Rhenish and Electoral Palatinates.
With the passage of time, I have traced some of my lines of descent through the Plantagenets to the Counts of Anjou and Normandy, discovered numerous Colonials — even dating back to Colonial Jamestown, and at least six Revolutionary War patriots. Not to mention two cousins who became U.S. presidents.
Additionally, I've encountered numerous cousins I hadn't previously known existed — some of those have become dear friends and collaborators. My mother would be astounded and proud of the family I’ve rediscovered, and of her grandchildren.
Presently my maternal surnames which I'm researching include: Neal [Neale], Mefford [Meffert], Hart, Raisor, Dewitt, Shoemaker, Sullivan [Sollnor], Rice, Rule [Ruhle], Abshire, Witcher, Turley, Graham, Fisher, Lockridge, Cooper, Trout, Tucker, Berger, Kuntz, Childress, and Bailey. The paternal surnames which I'm researching include: Farris, Solomon [Suleiman], Hayek, Eishy [Ishe], Khoury, Tannous [Tanious], Romanos, Shouwaysha, and Zoghby.

I sent you a message a couple of weeks ago on behalf of the Germany Project and have not yet heard back from you. I hope you are well!
If I don’t hear back from you by the end of April, I will assume you no longer wish to be a member of the Germany Project and I’ll go ahead and remove you from our member roster. You are, of course, welcome to rejoin at any time via our G2G sign-up post.
Best wishes,
Traci ~ Germany Project co-leader

As a 100% disabled veteran I am increasingly experiencing cognitive and memory problems, but may require your assistance to catch-up and get squared away. In particular, I am interested in Palatine Migration and the names Meffert/Mefford and Traut/Trout.
My thanks for all the work you do as the Project Leader.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Very respectfully, George

On behalf of the Military and War Project Leaders, we are doing a six-month check-in with members.
First, we want to thank you for your past participation in the project. We appreciate your desire to honor your ancestors for their service to their countries, or even for your service, wherever in the world. We hope that your membership has enhanced your WikiTree experience.
Please let me know, by commenting on my profile or sending a private message, if you are still active in the project, and if so, in a general sense how you may have contributed to the main project or any sub-projects within the last couple months.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.

It has been a couple of weeks since we contacted you about your participation in the Southern Colonies Project. As we haven't heard from you, we are following up to make sure you wish to remain a member.
We understand that interests shift as we grow our shared tree and that some members may have moved on to projects more pertinent to their ancestors. If this is the case for you, please let us know.
If we do not hear back from you within the week, we will assume you have moved on to other things for the moment and remove you from the project. Please know that you will always be welcome to rejoin should your interests shift back in this direction.
Thank you so much for your participation; we genuinely appreciate it.

We realise the time has come to dissolve the UK Project in favour of the individual country projects of England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
We are checking in with all UK badge holders to find out which country project(s) you would like to be in so you can collaborate with other members, have the opportunity to select which team(s) you would like to join, and so we can ensure you have all the correct badges.
Please respond by PM to let us know which country project(s) you would like to be in. Please dont assume we know. We are effectively starting from scratch to make sure no one falls through the cracks.
Once you have done this, the Coordinator for Membership in the relevant country project(s) will be in touch to help get you situated.
Many thanks,
Susie
