Biography

Rachel was born in 1863 in Salem, Utah Territory. She was the daughter of James Jordan Davis and Elizabeth Hallett. Her father was a shoemaker from Tennessee, and her mother was from England. Her mother passed away when she was a small girl and her father remarried several years later. She married James Hanks, an English immigrant, around 1879. They lived in Salem, Utah. By 1920 she had had 9 children, 6 of whom were still living. She passed away in 1927 and is buried in Salem City Cemetery, Salem, Utah County, Utah.
