Biography

James was born in 1832. He was four years old when his parents brought him to the United States from England. He became a naturalized citizen in 1836. He married Mary Boothroyd (1832-1912) in Lisbon, New York, USA. on April 25, 1855. Survivors included Leverett J., Ogdensburg; George, Texas; Emma Burroughs, Lisbon and Clara Johnson, Ogdensburg.

CRAYFORD, JAMES.—Age, 30 years. Enlisted, August 8, 1862, at De Peyster, to serve three years; mustered in as private, Co. C, August 27, 1862; promoted corporal, April 1, 1865; mustered out with detachment, June 13, 1865, at Hicks Hospital, Baltimore, Md.^[1]
