Martha was born in about 1746 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania. She died in before 1816 in Clarion County, Pennsylvania. There is no definitive evidence for Martha Crawford in any of this Crawford family literature, but she may have been the daughter of John Crawford born in 1687 in Ayrshire, Scotland and died in 1748 in Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, and Mary Margaret McConnell (or Lowther?) born in about 1706 in County Antrim, Ireland and died in 1764 in Chambersburg. Mercersburg in Franklin County is closely neighboring to Chambersburg. In the birth records for the Upper West Conococheague Presbyterian Church in Mercersburg, two of Martha's children were baptized there, as well as several of her husband Ezekial Matthews brothers' children. Several of the grandchildren of John and Mary Crawford were also baptized there. And in the Revolutionary War, Ezekial Matthews and his brothers John and James served with the Frontier Rangers of the Westmoreland County Militia. As did several of the Crawford sons. This is all speculation based on circumstantial evidence, but I believe that it's very possible that Martha Crawford Matthews belonged to this Crawford family.
