WEDDING At St. Phillips' Presbyterian Church, Newcastle, on the 4th May, was solemnised the marriage of Vera May, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. T. Clerke, of Taree, to Mr. Victor Arnold Rushby, second son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Rushby, of Paddington. The Rev. McVittie officiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a gown of ivory mariette, embossed with silver and pink over a foundation of shell pink crepe de chene, and wore an embroidered veil with trails of orange blossoms. She carried a shower bouquet of frangipanni tuberous begonias and bouvardias. Her sister, Mrs. J. S. Krohn, attended as matron of honor, frocked in shell pink mariette with silver grey hat and shoes to tone, and carried a posy of pink roses. Mr. Dudley Rushby, brother of the bridegroom, acted as best man. The bride's mother was gowned in grey and carried a posy of crimson roses. The bridegroom's mother chose navy and carried a posy of sunset roses. The reception was held at "Scottish House," Hunter Street. The Rev. McVittie presided and the usual toasts were honored. The bride travelled in cocoa colored ensemble, with velour hat to tone. |
