It's time for the One Place Studies Project Check-In!

We've put together a survey for you to fill out to check in with you, it will only take a moment as there are only a few questions. Filling out the survey lets us know you are still interested in coordinating your study and provides an opportunity for you to share any suggestions you may have for the project.

If you have decided to step away from your study, please reply to this comment to that effect.

Hello!

I noticed that you're working on pre-1700-era profiles. This is just a reminder that certifying to work on these types of profiles means that you agree to add valid sources as outlined in the Pre-1700 Certification Quiz.

If you need help with this, our G2G Forum is a great place to start. You can get there by clicking the link on the Help menu.

Thanks!

Hi!

All the pre 1700 profiles I recently added are sourced from either FamilySearch, FindMyPast and/or Find A Grave.

Hi just passing a reference that might help with Lasham.

Hi Courtney,

It's that time of the year again: check-in time! As England Project Leaders, we like to check in with you every six months or so to see how things are progressing. Back in May, we didn't ask for a response due to the rapid emergence of Covid-19 because we understood that people's lives were changing rapidly. While we are still living in a Covid world, we do need to hear back from you this time around.

First of all, how are you doing? What are you currently working on? Are you happy with the team(s) you're in, or would you like to change things up?

Secondly, we're looking for some feedback on the Google Group and our Discord server. Do you use either or both of these? If you don't use either, why not? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve participation and collaboration, either generally or for you personally?

Looking forward to hearing from you,

Joan, Amy & Lizzie.

Hello Courtney

I notice that you have added Ann Creegan as a wife to my great grandfather (via my grandmother Jesse Hislop Ford) Thomas Bell Ford (1856 - 1916) and I am unable to trace any record of this marriage. The inscription on his gravestone makes no reference to such a marriage, inscription and life details that I have entered on his profile are as follows -

Thomas Bell Ford was a master plumber and operated in the family business trading in Coldstream Berwickshire. He was born in Coldstream, married his first wife Marian Smith and they brought up their 7 children there until she died in 1901. He later married a second time to Mary Elizabeth Scott in 1907 -he died in 1916 and she died in 1930. I have personal knowledge of his eldest son Andrew Ford who was running the family business in the 1940's when I used to visit him as a child when staying with my grandmother Jesse Ford. He was buried in the Lennel Kirkyard at Coldstream and his headstone recorded on the Coldstream historical society website listing the cemetery records inscribed as follows -

West Row 18 - 3 - Ford/Smith/Scott Lennel Kirkyard - West inventory | West - Row 18

Erected by THOMAS B. FORD Plumber Coldstream in memory of MARION SMITH his wife who died 10th September 1901 aged 40 years. Also his son Private JAMES SMITH FORD 1st Seaforth Highlanders Killed at Ypres 9th May 1915 aged 25 years. Also his son L/Cpl JOHN BAXTER FORD 4th K.O.S.B. killed on Gallipoli Peninsula 25th June 1915 aged 20 years. Also the above THOMAS BELL FORD who died at Coldstream 6th January 1916 aged 59 years Also MARY ELIZABETH SCOTT his wife died 27th June 1930 aged 69 years. Do you have any reliable proof of the marriage or could this relate to another person with the same name??

His daughter Jesse married my grandfather James Thomas McCaskie.

James McCaskie

Hi James,

I think perhaps two Thomas Fords have been mixed up. I admit, I hadn't edited all the info from the Beynon tree I had uploaded yet. I was following the Beynon line of which an Ann Beynon married Edward Ford in 1910. Edward was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania around 1890. I do have a 1900 census for Thomas P. Ford, wife Ann, their children Thomas F Ford, Martin Ford, Frank Ford, Edward Ford, & Annie Ford; and also Ann's mother Mary Creegan . Thomas died in Scranton, PA in 1918 and Ann in 1926. They are buried in Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton. Since you have already added so much to that profile, and I don't want you to have to redo that work, I shall remove Edward and Ann and create a new Thomas. It's always difficult when names are common to not mix people up. I had to once sort out 7 different men named John Davis all buried in the same cemetery. (3 of whom were married to women named Ann, it was a bit of a nightmare and even now, I'm not 100% confident I got them all correct.)

Hello Courtney, the England Project has changed the way that "Category:England Project" is used. Previously it identified England Project Members, now it is a category for the England Project Free Space Pages and admin pages.

I would therefore be very grateful if you would remove "Category:England Project" from your personal profile. Please contact me if you have any questions about this.

Many thanks, Jo, England Project Leader

Hi,

The Global Cemeteries Project is currently undergoing our member check-in and wanted to verify that you are still active and interested in being a member of the project. Are you currently assigned to or working with one of our Cemetery Teams? If not, is there a particular Team or area you are interested in participating with? I would be delighted to help you get setup in one or more of our collaborative teams!

We use Google Groups for internal project collaboration, so if you are not yet setup for access feel free to submit a join request and we will get that approved as quick as possible. We also ask that members check their follwed tags to make sure you are following the correct project tag (CEMETERIES) so you don't miss any disucssions in G2G.

Last, but not least, we would like to thank you for all of your contributions to WikiTree and let you konw that any ideas or suggestions for improvement you may have for the Global Cemeteries Project would greatly appreciated!

I look forward to hearing form you soon!

Hi Courtney,

We’ve made some exciting changes to the Global Cemeteries Project. The sub-projects have been merged into the Global Project to help with Leadership and to facilitate collaboration.

Some roles within the project have changed. From now on, there are Project Coordinators for each continent, and one for Welcome and Integration, plus Team Leaders for each individual Country etc.

Please let me know if you’d like to stay on in the new project, if you’d like to continue in an existing role, and which team(s) you’d like to be on. Please also give me your e-mail address so that I can get you added to the project’s Google Group.

Many thanks,
