Hello, cousins and fellow researchers! I've been researching my family tree for about 28 years and finding WikiTree is one of the best things that ever happened to me. I'm sure we can help each other, so please feel free to jump in, send me a message and let's get started!
Warmly,
Christine

Hello Christine, hope all is well. I noticed on your profile for Elizabeth (Shakespeare) Aungst, Shakespeare-224, you have her father as Johann Daniel Aungst, Aungst-94. I believe her husband could be Johann's son, but not her. Do you agree? I believe her father would be a Shakespeare, since her maiden name is Shakespeare.
The annual Source-a-thon is coming up. It will be from September 29th to October 2nd.
Registration has begun!! I would be so blessed if you go to: Register now for the 2023 Source-a-Thon! - WikiTree G2G and answer that you are in and are a Legacy Heir!!!!
So George, born circa 1844, in Wisconsin does not seem to have a familysearch page. You say that In the 1856 census I found him with Benjamin and Abigail Harris, and I've been able to conclude that he is definitely related to them through DNA matches to this family.
Does the 1856 census (of Illinois??) give the year and place of birth of Benjamin Harris? Do they have WikiTree profiles? jan
There are also duplicate pages which have him with parents that are not proven.
There is a link to Benjamin Harris' WikiTree profile in the comments section of George Washington Hall's profile.
Hi Chris, I'm new to this website and have been adding ancestors to other sites. You did in the past, an "Edward Assel Meredith". He is my G. Grandfather. Trying to figure out how to use the other family trees having the same kin as me.
I see that you posted a photo under George B. Carkin and you titled it "50th Anniversary". Are you sure that photo was for that? I am only asking because that would mean it would have been taken around 1949. My mother is in the photo and was born in 1936, but looks older than 13 in the photo. Just trying to piece it all together. My mother was a Carkin, born to Lester and Constance Carkin. George and Bessie were my great grandparents. Also, do you have any other photos with George and Bessie and their children in them by chance? Thanks, Garry Wheeler
Hi, Garry, and thank you for your comment! As far as I know, the photo is the 50th anniversary of George B. and Bessie Carkin (seated in the middle). Which of the girls is your mom? It could be that she had already had a birthday that year, so she's a year older. Kids change so fast when they hit those years . . . it's hard to tell. There is another picture on George Benjamin Carkin's profile of George and Bessie and their children; they look all grown up. I will look for any more pictures I might have and add them if I find any.
Thanks for getting back so fast! If you go right to left, my Mom is the 4th person from the right... She has a bright smile in the photo. Take care and stay healthy. Garry
Beautiful! I can see why you think she would be older than 13… Although she may just have hit puberty and sprouted up and looks old for her age. And she may actually be closer to 14 or past 14, depending on when her birthday falls and when this picture was actually taken. I don’t remember if “50th anniversary“ is actually written on the back or not. I don’t have the original, just a copy from another cousin. Sandy Saint Martin has a ton of Carkin photos and stuff. I don’t think she’s on wiki tree, and I doubt if I still have contact information for her, but you should be able to find something. It’s been a while since we’ve been in touch. There is a picture of Lester Carkin up, and I believe he is either the young man at the top right or the one just to the left of him in the other picture that I mentioned. It’s hard to tell, because the picture isn’t incredibly clear. Did you see the photo of George and Betsy and their grown children on George’s profile?
Thanks again Christine. I figured I would check. I am fortunate to have a few pics of my grandfather, but only a couple of my great grandparents and very few of my grandfathers brothers and sisters. I do have the photo that you mentioned, but I can't really tell who's who unfortunately. Anyway, take care and stay healthy. Garry
Comparing De Priest-6 and DePriest-231 - your Find A Grave source on DePriest-231 notes her father is Abraham (father connected to De Priest-6) - which is one of the reasons I began the merge process.

You are an amazingly awesome team and I am so blessed to have you all in Legacy Heirs. I hope to have you all back next year.
I see the problem with William Grancer Short's mother. I didn't do the research on Echois-154. Her profile manager is Rhonda Kendall I will try to research it as best I can. I recently had my DNA done by Ancestry but don't have a subscription so I mostly do FamilySearch and any free resources.
