Biography
Mary Ann was the daughter of Thomas Boytt and Martha Unknown.
The 1850 US Census enumerates Mary Ann in Nansemond, Virginia, in the home of her mother.[1]
She married and her name became Mary Ann Holland.[2] She was widowed and married William Chapman.[3]
In 1865, Mary Ann and William had a son, William R. Chapman whose birth was recorded in Southampton, Virginia.[4]
In September of 1868, she and William had a son named Leroyal.[5] He died in December of the same year.[6]
The 1870 US Census records them living in Holy Neck, Nansemond, Virginia, with children Willie A., Martha, William R., Henry and Mary. G.[7]
