Thomas H. Bond was born in England or in Nova Scotia[1] about 1813. He married Catherine Atkinson on December 21, 1839 in Saint John, New Brunswick.[2] Their son, Berkeley, was born in Saint John in 1842.
They moved to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where Thomas was a hardware merchant. They had 9 children, the youngest being Laura Bond, who would later be married to the Prime Minister of Canada, Robert Borden.
1 male, 2 females, age 15-20 (Berkeley, Emma, unknown)
1 male, 1 female, age 40-50 (Thomas, Catherine)
1 female, age 60-70 (likely mother of either Thomas or Catherine)
Their youngest daughter, Laura, was born after the 1861 census. In 1871, there were 6 children at home: Emma, Clara, Margaret, George, Annie and Laura.[4] Their son, Frederick, had died in 1870 at the age of 12.[5] Their son, Berkeley, was already married.[6] There was one other daughter, who was likely also married by the time of the 1871 census.
↑ Death certificate says England. 1871 census says he was born in Nova Scotia. On daughter Laura's entry in the 1891 census, it says her father was born in Nova Scotia, whereas on the 1921 census it says England.
